Well if there's one thing that I've noticed it's that the news is trying to be fair and balanced, yet the one thing that I noticed was that when it comes to the stories that are currently out there right now, it seems that Japan is just totally dominating everything that's currently out there right now. Not that I have any problem with that but, even there are other things out there right now that should also be hitting the news as well (mind you none that I can actually think of at the moment). Even a friend of mine made a joke that actually rang true on what's going out there, that when it comes to what's going on in Japan, it's prompted a rare moment of silence from Charlie Sheen.
Now in all seriousness, the one thing that I did notice on the news, is that the devastation that's hit Japan right now, it's effecting the markets right now in ways that will eventually have a ripple effect right back to us. Now many people may not think that what happens over there will happen to us, but I've got to tell you that that's wrong since (and no I don't know when they did this) all of the different world markets are now tied together to the point that we happen to be just about totally dependant on each other. Is that a good thing, maybe on some level yes, but when it comes to something like this happening, it's not so good. However this disaster has brought out the greatness in us like the winter and summer Olympics does every four years that they happen to come out (for which when they happen next year will be in London, though I'm seriously starting to wonder if they'll ever come back to the U.S. again). Either way, this does bring out the better parts of us, at least for those of us here, though from what I'm reading, maybe not in other parts of the world. However for now that's going to be one thing that I'm going to be staying away from, namely since I haven't fully read up on everything and I would rather stay away from it for now, then to get into something that I don't know that much about and offend someone that I don't want to offend.
Right now the only thing that even made the front page of the Fresno Bee today(http://www.fresnobee.com/) (since that's the city paper that I happen to check out every day) was the farmers trying to stop a bike path that may get put out in the ag area of the county. Now honestly I can see where both sides are coming from here, but at the same time (since I don't happen to have a car myself) if biking is the only way that you can get around, then it's going to be something that is going to hit you hard. Either way I can understand what they're trying to do on both sides.
Now there was a story that had just caught my eye, and even though it's a small one, it still marks out the craziness that goes out all around us, and that some things can have a good ending. This story is dealing with a man that had gotten his golf clubs stolen (http://www.fresnobee.com/2011/03/14/2310285/golf-clubs-on-craigslist-lead.html) and the later arrest that had taken place after the man that had stolen them had done the idiot move and posted an ad for them up on Craig's List (personally I don't trust the site any more considering all of the fraud that continues to hit the site like crazy on a daily basis, I had used it for two things, both jobs and personal ads at one point. The jobs had all been taken, and when it came to the personal ads, I had placed an ad up there, and got nothing but automated replies back to my ad, all mostly wanting one night stands). Well the guy that had put the ad up there hadn't bothered to change anything, I mean he didn't even bother to remove the covering when it came to the photo that he took. So what happened (as you'll read in the story), was that the guy's son had spotted the ad and told their father, who then filed a police report (since he hadn't before since it wouldn't have done any good before). Well suffice it to say that a meeting had been set up, and the guy that had stolen the clubs was arrested, and the clubs were returned. Personally out of all the news that we get these days, that's one story that I would like to see more of, but I know that we never will and that's the sad thing.
Look if anyone out there that happens to read these blog entries has stories in their area that they would like me to comment on (after I read the full article of course), please leave me a comment with the URL for where to find the story and I'll check it out, after all I can't always be relying on the Fresno Bee for all of the stories, after all there might not be interesting ones in there every day. So please comment and let me know.
